The Dove

Heart Heart

I saw a dove today.
I always thought they traveled in pairs. At least that is what I have always imagined.
At first, I thought it was a coincidence.
I told myself,….I’m sure your mate will be right back.

But throughout the day, every time I stepped outside,
there she was…
perched on the line, cooing all alone.

I noticed how still she sat, how regal. Have you ever watched a dove? They sit with their chest held high…
I noticed the emptiness beside her. Yet, she still sat beautifully on the wire

I thought of my own grief.
How I used to be one of two.
How the world still turns, and yet…
nothing is quite the same.

That lone dove became a mirror.
Maybe a tender reminder ….. of what I carry now.
She didn’t try to fly away.
She just stayed.
And maybe, for today, that’s enough.
Maybe realizing that even in my sorrow, I am staying more still than not.. not in fear any longer but more in curiosity. What do you have for me now God? I ask that a lot… As the dove coo’s outside, it’s as if she is telling me something… Doves are widely recognised as symbols of peace, love, and hope. Maybe… see is telling me to hope more often than not… to find my peace in the aloneness of my loss and Maybe… love for myself on this journey. To really see who we are becoming and be kind and gentle with the woman who you are now, love the woman you are. You are more than a conqueror even if you feel like you are finding it hard to see that in yourself. I am your reminder today!!

What do you notice about the spaces beside you now—and what part of you is learning to sit in them with grace?

Ps.. I am linking a book that I have just recently read. Called “Even Though”. I have some other essentials in the link as well. Just some books and stuff that I have bought and have helped me. I will say, the two books that I think are the best are: A Grief Observed and this book “Even Though”. I have linked my amazon code in there. No pressure to buy it but, I will say… it really was a great read.

Blessings my friends!!
